What we offer
We provide talking therapies for people who need support with managing mood disorders, anxiety disorders, thought disorders, perceptual disorders and readjustment to emerging circumstances. Depending on their needs, people attend the Day Hospital two days a week (10am - 3pm) for eight weeks.
In addition we offer anxiety management and mood management for people with specific needs related to anxiety and mood disorders. These are closed groups of 1.5 hours duration, once a week over six weeks.
How you can access our service
We accept referrals from Barnet Older Peoples Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) consultants only. Patients are usually referred to the consultants by GPs. If you feel you need help with any of the above, please contact your GP who may refer you to the appropriate consultants.
Some referrals come from in-patient services. They too need to be referred to the CMHT consultants for an initial assessment who will refer them to the Day Hospital, where appropriate.
Who is the service for
This service is for older adults who are 65 years of age or over and who need help with managing their mental health problems. They may be experiencing anxiety, low mood or mood swings, perceptual issues or mild cognitive impairments which are impacting on their ability to cope with their daily routine, including activities of daily living.
We work closely with the Barnet Older Peoples Community Mental Health (CMHT) and with the Barnet Memory Services (BMS).
If you feel you are not coping and need immediate help, please call the CRISIS team on 020 8702 4040.
