New BEH Open Minds Project
Date: 17 June 2022

Service users in Haringey can express themselves creatively in a new project, funded by NHS Charities Together to promote recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. The BEH Open Minds project are running separate music, art and dramatherapy sessions, which started on 25 May and run weekly for 10 weeks. Each has space for 10 service users, with no experience necessary.
Depending in the workshop they choose, service users will explore activities such as song-writing, rapping, playing music, graffiti art, large scale painting, improvisation, speech and movement. Sessions are led by qualified or experienced artists and therapists from Outsider Music (OM) with Outsider Gallery and Maria Stydenko. Later in the summer, all Open Minds participants will come together for a final event, performance and exhibition.
As well as producing their own creative work, service users meet and collaborate with others, and increase confidence and self-esteem, which are especially important after the hardships and isolation of the Coid-19 pandemic.
The project will be adapted to run for staff later in the year.
