Helen Mehra named London winner in the NHS Awards
Date: 14 June 2022
Congratulations to Helen Mehra, Head of Nursing and Integrated Pathways, Enfield Community Services, who is a London Regional Winner in the NHS Parliamentary Awards 2022.
Helen is a finalist in the Lifetime Achievement category and was nominated for her career as a nurse for 40 years, during which she has held a diverse range of roles including midwife, district nurse, and matron. She was nominated by Mr Bambos Charalambous MP and Ms Kate Osamor MP.
In 2015, Helen was honoured as a Queen’s Nurse in recognition of her commitment to high standards of practice, professional development, and patient-centred care.
Helen spent five years managing a community health project in India and continues to support health projects in Nepal.
Helen always puts patients first and has led on a number of transformation programmes to improve outcomes for patients, notably on falls and on pressure ulcers. She is a very visible presence within Enfield Community Services and, alongside her strategic responsibilities, she also spends time on our rehabilitation ward talking to patients and their families and carers to seek feedback and identify improvements and to make sure their voices are heard.
When she heard the news that she was a finalist, Helen commented: “That is wonderful news and I feel truly humbled to have been nominated by BEH. My heartfelt thank you to all of you."
The national final of the NHS Parliamentary Awards will take place on 6 July.
