BEH service for vulnerable young men walks off with two national health awards

A BEH community mental health and wellbeing service that has transformed services for young people labelled as gang members and affected by serious youth violence has scooped two national health awards.
An innovative BEH scheme which sees people with lived experience of mental health issues supporting others has won national recognition.

Seven peer support workers (PSWs) employed by Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEHMHT), began work with the liaison psychiatry team in North Middlesex University Hospital’s emergency department around a year ago. During that time they have worked alongside clinicians – drawing on their own experience to support people turning up at the department who have a mental health diagnosis or who colleagues feel might have mental health issues.
Two London Mental Health Trusts formally agree strategic partnership

Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) yesterday signed a landmark agreement pledging to work together to improve services further and strengthen the voice of mental health across north central London.
