CEO and Chairs sign MOU with Candi

Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) yesterday signed a landmark agreement pledging to work together to improve services further and strengthen the voice of mental health across north central London.

This new partnership will benefit patients and staff and will enable both organisations to develop more efficient integrated care pathways together and provide better outcomes for patients.

This is not a merger and both trusts will remain distinct organisations with individual authority and control, but greater joint working will allow them to improve recruitment and retention by sharing talent between both organisations, offering joint staff rotation, opportunities for staff development and career progression.

Speaking after the formal signing at The Royal College of Nursing in London, attended by senior leaders from both organisations, Trust Chair, Leisha Fullick, said:  “Today was a wonderful opportunity to start exploring all the different ways we can work together to benefit our staff and patients and ensure that mental health services are the best they can possibly be across our area.”

BEH Trust Chair, Mark Lam, added:  “This partnership is a very positive step in delivering a joint vision for healthcare in our diverse communities. We strongly believe that working closely together will improve the outcome for our patients.”

In a joint statement C&I Chief Executive, Angela McNab; and Jinjer Kandola, BEH’s Chief Executive, said: “We’re excited about the possibilities this alliance opens up for both our organisations which will enable us to deliver the very best care by working in partnership.

“Partnerships of this nature have worked very effectively in other parts of London, and we see our future as working more closely together, developing the very best patient-centred care.”

The focus in the coming months will be on improving some specific patient pathways, and potentially exploring working at greater scale in one or two corporate areas to see if we can achieve more together.
