International nurses day 2017

Date: 12 May 2017

Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) is marking international nurses day with a Nurses Conference.

The theme this year is proud to be different. With this in mind we are joining Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust and Middlesex University in a day of learning on Thursday May 18th.

Mary Sexton, BEH’s Director of Nursing, said: “Every year BEH hosts a Nurses Conference to recognise the brilliant work that happens both on our wards and out in the community. Ours is taking place next week. I’m looking forward to having our nurses in one space, sharing learning and exploring ideas for the future.

“I’m so proud of the nurses here at BEH who make a huge difference to people’s lives every day. Nurses are the backbone of the NHS, they are often there when people are at their most vulnerable and I know that kindness and compassion is at the heart of the care they provide.”

The International Council of Nurses has collected case studies from around the world to show how nurses’ daily work is helping to achieve the SDGs. Click here and go to page 10 to see how initiatives like the Family Nurse Partnership and social prescribing make a real difference.
