Appointment of Mark Lam as Chair of ELFT as well as BEH

Date: 15 May 2020

Mark Lam 18

Mark Lam, Chair of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) has also been appointed as the Chair of East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) following a meeting of the ELFT Council of Governors on 14 May. Mark will take up his new role at ELFT from 1 June this year.

Mark Lam said "I am very pleased to be appointed as Chair of East London NHS Foundation Trust and am very much looking forward to it. I remain the Chair of BEH and am fully committed to leading the BEH Board forward. The BEH Board is supportive of this additional appointment. As Chair of both Trusts I will be able to encourage sharing of best practice and learning across both organisations so that both continue to improve services for their patients. I will continue to help BEH build on our Care Quality Commission rating of ‘Good’ to become ‘Outstanding’ across the Trust.

My new appointment at ELFT is a completely separate appointment. BEH’s strategy agreed with patients, staff and wider stakeholders last year will continue, as will our Strategic Alliance with neighbouring Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust.

I would like to thank all the staff at BEH for everything they are doing at the moment to support our patients during this very challenging period. I am constantly impressed by their commitment, hard work and caring professionalism and will continue to do everything I can to support them.”
