Works starts on St Ann’s Hospital re-development in Haringey.
10 October 2018

Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust will soon start the re-development of St Ann’s Hospital, following final approval from NHS Improvement. This was celebrated recently with an official turf cutting at St Ann’s attended by patients and carers representatives, Trust staff and key partners, including the Mayor of Haringey and the Chair of Haringey Clinical Commissioning Group.

The redevelopment will include the creation of a new mental health inpatient building, to replace the current three adult wards and specialist eating disorders ward, Planning approval for which was agreed by Haringey Council in March.

This follows a lot of work with patients, carers, staff and the Trust’s design and build partner, Integrated Health Projects. Initial enabling work will commence in the next few weeks. The main construction work on the new mental health building will commence in early 2019, with completion by late 2020.

The Mayor of Haringey, Councillor Gina Adamou, said: “By investing in the re-development of St Ann’s Hospital the Trust will have purpose-built facilities providing high quality care for the people of Haringey. We wish the Trust success in the future.”

Outgoing Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust Chairman, Michael Fox, said “This marks a very special moment for the Trust, our patients and our staff. The start of the process means that the current inpatient wards at St Ann’s Hospital will be replaced with brand new, state-of-the-art facilities, which will be amongst the best in the country”.
