Online auction of signed Tottenham and Chelsea shirts is underway
02 November 2018

A Tottenham shirt and Chelsea shirt each signed by each team’s stars is up for grabs on eBay – with the money raised going to a local club for people with dementia.

Tottenham Hotspur FC and Chelsea FC donated shirts signed by their squads to honour the memory of Tom Harmer, who played for both clubs. He died of vascular dementia a decade ago and a collection at his funeral raised money to establish Tom’s Club, a support and activity group for people in Haringey living with dementia and their families.

You can bid for the Tottenham shirt by following this link https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183514340008

Chelsea fans can bid for their club’s signed shirt at https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183514343341

The auction has been timed to run up to the season’s first showdown between the sides on 24 November. It closes on 11 November.

Jinjer Kandola, Chief Executive of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust, which funds and manages Tom’s Club, says: “Tom Harmer’s life spanned both the joys and passion of football and the dreadful impact of dementia. It’s fantastic that the two football clubs he graced have come together to boost a club that supports people living with the same condition and those who care for them.”

Martin Bishop, Director of Fundraising at Dementia UK, said: “Tom’s Club helps people with dementia and their carers to socialise and meet other people in a similar position. The donation of these shirts is a really generous gesture from the teams, which will help Dementia UK raise valuable funds for Tom’s Club. We hope that football fans dig deep and raise lots of money to help local families affected by dementia.”
