Enfield Parent Infant Partnership top the People's Choice Award
06 July 2017

Enfield Parent Infant Partnership (EPIP) won the People’s Choice Award at the National Infant Mental Health Awards run by PIP UK.

EPIP work with parents and their babies where mothers have suffered with severe post-partum mental health issues, families where their previous babies have been removed from their care, vulnerable teenage mothers and couples and parents who have felt overwhelmed by the experience of becoming new parents.

The team are also committed to involving fathers wherever possible and have encouraged antenatal referrals trying wherever possible to establish a relationship with pregnant women to begin to think about the baby in preparation.

Natalija Lytrides, Interim Enfield CAMHS Manager, said: “We are delighted that EPIP have been recognised for their work! Our clinicians are highly skilled, specialist professionals in this field, and to be able to offer such expertise at such a critical point in a young family’s life can be life changing when we consider impact on long term outcomes.

"Those early years are vital. We want new mothers to feel relaxed and confident and be able to connect with their child. Wherever possible, we try to engage with fathers so that they are also supported and don’t feel quite so overwhelmed.  We believe in working with families at this to help create the right conditions where an infant can thrive. Congratulations to Carol and the EPIP team for well deserved recognition.”

The service - which was also runner up for Exceptional Infant Mental Health Service Provision and in the Locality Award for Infant Mental Health category - has been running for three years and the staff have worked with more than 150 babies and their parents. The small therapeutic team includes parent infant psychotherapists, a specialist health visitor, a trainee and a parent support worker.

EPIP is a joint project involving Enfield child and adolescent mental health service, Enfield Health Visiting, Enfield Council, a local charity Every Parent and Child (EP&C) and PIP UK.
