Primary Care Academy

The Trust’s Primary Care Academy offers training and support by Trust consultants to GPs on mental health, building relationships between primary and secondary care.

Our aim

The Academy’s aim is to work in partnership with our three CCGs to support GPs and their staff to learn more about mental health, and to enable our clinicians to learn more about what GPs need from the Trust, through a programme of face to face sessions and elearning on topics specified by GPs. The programme has been supported by NHS London and Health Education North Central and East London.

The Academy so far

The Academy works with GP practices across our three boroughs to identify those who can host our sessions. We are most grateful to the practices who have collaborated with us on this. Senior Trust psychiatrists deliver the sessions. Since it started in 2013, the Academy has attracted over 150 attendances from GPs and practice nurses. Building on the strength of its face to face programme, the Academy is now developing elearning to widen access to its learning for Barnet Enfield and Haringey GPs and their staff.  Read more about the Academy in the Primary Care Academy Guide.
